Ray Beaudoin |

|
Be it on the grid iron, diamond or track, Ray Beaudoin was the standard bearer and leader of AB athletics from 1965 to 1969. Whether cruising through a rival town or in a pick up game at Jones Field, you were safe when Ray was on your side. Though not imposing in physical stature, here was a rare individual who commanded respect by his leadership and presence. You did not mess with Ray Beaudoin. Ray was a three sport captain. In the words of Coach Ed Leary, "Ray Beaudoin was the finest running back ever to play at Acton-Boxboro...he could run inside and take a pounding or run outside and beat you...the most fluid back we've ever had." Ray was also a devastating middle safety.

Having gained Dual County League All Star status as a Junior and lettering and starting in his first three years, Ray Beaudoin's greatest moment came in AB's stunning 6-0 upset of the Wayland Warriors in 1968. Ray carried 36 times for 130 yards not including a 65 yard run called back. Though the yardage has been topped, no back has ever dominated a game as Ray did that day. His season was cut short in the very next game when he was cut down by a blatant clip. The serious knee injury did not stop Ray from finishing a stellar four year indoor track career. The crowning moment came in the state meet when after falling down in the 300, he recovered to finish third. Ray was one of the finest catchers Acton-Boxboro has ever had. It is here that his leadership and toughness earned him All Star status in yet another sport. His skill on the field is now manifested in his skill as a master artisan. Ray owns Raymond Beaudoin Plumbing & Heating and lives in West Acton across the street from where he grew up. Ray and his wife Janice have raised six children - Aaron, Bryce, Missy, Serena, Ryan and Tia, all athletes in their own rite.
