John "Bugsy" Flannery was a fierce competitor from West Acton. A field rat, a gym rat, whatever game he played, he'd find a way to beat you. If it was on a football field, he might be the tail back, split end or quarterback. If it was on the hardwood, there was no such thing as an uncontested layup. On the diamond, he was always in the middle of every play and ate more infield dust than any other player at the Charter Road Field. Johnny's competitive fire was formed playing in the "Bibster Games" in the Beaudoin family back yard stadium. He utilized his tremendous speed, tenacity and as Coach Rich MacLeod stated, "you won't find a more intense competitor around." His leadership abilities is evident by the fact that his peers elected him a three sports Captain his senior year.
