Two months after graduating from Acton Boxboro as a consensus All Scholastic Goaltender, Tom went straight to the big show. Tom is generally considered the finest hockey goaltender in Massachusetts schoolboy history. Tommy was goaltender for the famous AB hockey Teams of the 1980's leading them to the EMASS Finals each year at the Boston Garden. After a brief tryout with the 1984 U.S. Olympic Team, Tom chose to turn professional and join the Buffalo Sabres in 1983. While still a teenager Tommy won the National Hockey League Rookie of the Year, Vezina Trophy, First Team All Star, All Rookie Team and the William Jennings Trophy. Since then, Tom has won his second Vezina and William Jennings Trophies.

Now in his eleventh professional season, Tom Barrasso's name can be found etched twice on Lord Stanley's Cup as goaltender for the Pittsburg Penguins. After being traded to Pittsburg in 1988, Tom's daughter Ashley was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. Tom and his wife Megan started the Ashley Barrasso Cancer Research Fund to help children's cancer research. Tom presently resides with his wife Megan, and three daughters Ashley, Kelsey and Mallory in Sewickley, PA. Throughout the National Hockey League and the world his name is synonymous with professional goaltending excellence.
