Susan Herskovitz Fereshetian

Sue was one of the cornerstones in the building of the Acton Boxboro Womens Swim Team dynasty. As a competitor under Mary Jenkins, Jeff Johnson and Bob Asquith, Sue distinguished herself as on of the finest swimmers in AB history. As a member of AB's Championship Teams, the Globe All-Scholastic is best known for her accomplishments in the breast stroke and medley relays. Recruited by the University of New Hampshire, her already starry record expanded to include being named to the All-American Team eleven times! In the course of her career at UNH, Sue held nine team and pool records in 50, 100 and 200M breast stroke and 200 and 400M medley relays. Her team still holds the 400 medley relay record set in 1982. Sue was named UNH's Woman Athlete of the Year for an individual sport in 1980. Captain of the swim team her junior and senior year, Sue participated in three AIAW Division II National Meets, finishing second in 100 and 200M breast stroke and fourth in the medley relay. Sue's husband Al is the Head Men's Cross Country and Track and Field Coach at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carloina, where they reside with their four children Vanessa, Lauren, Justin and Allison. Sue earned her B.S. in Physical Education with an Exercise Specialist in Health Maintanance.
