Peter Nyberg
One of the classiest athletes to ever perform at Acton-Boxboro. His grace and skills were painted like a Rembrandt on the fields and on the court. His external poise merely glazed over a tremendous competitor in athletics and in the classroom. Peter Nyberg is a model we wish to hold up as an AB student athlete. The gods were kind in seventy-nine. This is when Peter moved into town in the summer prior to his Sophomore year. Peter was a Dual County League All Star in Soccer and Basketball both his Junior and Senior years. His Senior year he served as Co-captain in both sports, earning Boston Globe All Scholastic status in Soccer. Peter was also a smooth shortstop for Jack Hughes' nine his Sophomore and Junior years.
Peter's crowning achievement was leading the 1981 DCL Soccer Champions to the Division II North Sectional Championship. After graduating 7th in a class of AB's Dalton Trophy season, Peter matriculated to Yale University where he played Varsity soccer and JV basketball. After graduating Yale, he coached and taught at Avon Old Farms Preparatory School teaching chemistry and physics and coaching soccer. In 1992, Peter graduated from the Yale School of Management concentrating in Health Service Management. Peter is Administrative Director of Surgical Services at the Duke University Medical Center. In addition, Peter is administratively coordinating Duke's participation in the U S University-Saudi Project, a collaborative affiliation with the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Riyadh. Peter resides with his wife, Judy, in Durham, NC. He embodies the standard of excellence that has become the hallmark of Acton-Boxboro athletics.
