Mike DeCesar

Athlete

Mike is the only Acton-Boxborough athlete to be selected to both The Boston Globe and Boston Herald All-Scholastic Teams in both Football and Basketball in the same season.

In hoop Mike's contributions to Coach Rick Kilpatrick's teams were multifaceted and entertaining. In his career Mike scored over 900 points grabbed over 400 rebounds and over 250 assists. Mike's leadership was evident as a two-time team captain and two-time team MVP. He was a DCL All Star in 2001 & 2002 both years leading The Colonials to DCL championships.

In 2002 Mike received All Scholastic honors from The Boston Globe, The Boston Herald and The Lowell Sun. The 2001-2 squad made it to The Division One Finals at TD North Garden. On the Gridiron Mike was a member of the 1999-2001 teams that made the Super bowl. The 2001 team avenged the two previous season defeating Wakefield at Nickerson Field. Mike had a superb game topping off the victory with a pick six sealing the win. Playing tight end and plugger Mike was named A Boston Globe and Boston Herald All-Scholastic and was named to The Gridiron Club of Greater Boston Super 26 All-State Team as well as playing in The Shriners All-Star game.

Springfield College was the recipient of Mike's superb court vision and triple threat capabilities. Mike played all four seasons serving as Captain his senior year. The 3-year starter in 2004-5, Mike was also the team MVP. Mike remains in Springfield's top 10 individual categories in rebounds and minutes played. In all four seasons Mike was among team leaders in points, rebounds and assists. Longtime Springfield Coach Charlie Brock remarked "ůMike could play point, off guard or any forward position. His Go-Go Gadget Wingspan allowed Mike to play much taller than his size."

Mike's two AB memories are beating Peabody in the Division 1 North final and hoisting the trophy with his team mates on the TD Garden floor. The second memory is celebrating the 2001 Super bowl victory with his football teammates at Boston University.

Mike is a Key Account Sales Manager with Puma North America. He currently lives with his girlfriend Amanda Dargie in Durham, North Carolina.
