Class of 1985
The epitomy of the all-around athlete, Maura earned 10 varsity letters at AB, 4 in field hockey and 3 each in basketball and softball. She was a Dual County League All-Star no fewer than 5 times, ringing up the honors 3 times in field hockey and one each in basketball and softball. Maura was selected as a Boston Globe and Boston Herald All-Scholastic her senior year in field hockey and participated as a 1983 Junior Olympian. Maura feels that her most important designation was being elected a three sport captain by her peers. Her most memorable moment at Acton Boxboro is winning the Division I State Field Hockey Championship her junior season. On graduation from Acton Boxboro, Maura attended Holy Cross College on a four year athletic scholarship.
She was voted Co-Captain of the field hockey team her senior year. She taught and coached field hockey at AB in 1989, worked at Northwestern University in the Office of Athletics and received her Masters Degree in Education from UMASS Lowell in 1992. Since 1992, she has been a teacher/coach at North Middlesex Regional High School. Maura would most like to thank her family and credits her mother and father, sister and brothers for supporting her and helping her throughout her athletic and academic career. Maura and her husband David reside in Acton with their two children Michael and Julie.
