Joseph Marashio

Coach

Taking on the mantle of responsibility as the coach of the legendary Acton-Boxboro boys hockey program was not an easy chore. Joe Marashio took over the AB Hockey Program in 1983. From that year through 1999, Joe's coaching record was 227-93-25, including a 50 game unbeaten streak in Dual County League games from 1985 to 1991. Coach Marashio was a no-nonsense mentor. He was tough. He was fair and compassionate. His coaching legacy includes 8 DCL Titles, 2 DCL/MVC Titles, 2 Super-Eight appearances, including a victory over Central Catholic at the Garden. His coaching honors include Boston Globe, Lowell Sun and Middlesex News -"Coach of the Year," the 1990 National Federation of Inter-Scholastic Coaches Association Distinguished Service Award, and the 1985 UCONN Alumni Award for Distinguished Service. Joe has coached the Hockey Night in Boston Tournaments, Bay State Games, and the Team Massachusetts National Tournament. Joe expresses deep pride in the teams that he's coached, their desire, depth of talent, relentless fore-checking and defensive pressure. The high light of Joe's career was coaching his sons Joe and Mark at AB and watching his three-sport star daughter Julie compete for the Colonials. Joe resides in Wayland and thanks his wife Ellen for all her support and camaraderie in all his AB endeavors.
