Darryl Schwartz

One of the hardest working athletes to ever attend AB, Darryl's feats of tenacity and strength are still talked about. As a two-time D.C.L. All Star Football player, Darryl opened eyes with his bone jarring defense and crunching play at fullback. His strength and speed made him a threat every time he touched the ball. The highlight of Darryl's AB football career was his tremendous performance Thanksgiving Day his senior year against Newton South. He capped his career with an 82 yard touchdown run! In keeping with his personality and outstanding work effort, Darryl excelled in both indoor and outdoor track in the middle distance events, those events few want to run. Darryl attended both the University of Bridgeport and UCONN on football scholarship. After Bridgeport closed their football program, Darryl's hard nosed attitude won him a starting position as full back for the UCONN Huskies. Darryl's sports experience has led him into the field of teacher-coach. Darryl presently is the head football, wrestling and track coach at the American School in Wiesbaden, Germany. His ten year record as football coach is 50-20. Darryl still finds time to play rugby, where his teams have twice been crowned European Champions, and he was named Playing Sport Magazine "Athlete of the Month." Darryl lives with his wife Lisa, and their two children.
