Acton Boxborough Colonial Club

The 1994 Football Team

Undefeated Division 3 Superbowl Champions

In NFL documentaries, John Facenda's voice proclaimed "the autumn winds are a Raider" , not so at Acton-Boxboro. The autumn winds there blew cold steel in the colors of blue and gold dominance. It was in 1994 that the first of Acton-Boxboro's super bowl runs was inaugurated. With a record of 11-0 they became AB's first undefeated football team. It was the Mongol hoard reincarnated. This band of brigands outscored their opponents to the tune of 347 to 57. The first team defense gave up a total of 3 points the entire season. Not bad, considering the first team was usually out by the start of the second half. They hit, they ran, they blocked, they swarmed. They were mean and they liked it. They were dominant and reveled in it. They knew they were good, they practiced that way, and they let the opposition know it. Here we are, try to stop us. Try to score, its not going to happen. It was at Lincoln Sudbury that this team claimed their rights to DCL dominance with a 27-0 victory on LS's home field. The mantle to Dual County League supremacy had been passed. The 1994 football team galvanized the community and the changed the culture of youth sports at Acton-Boxboro. In fields and side yards around town, young boys were seen throwing footballs. In restaurants and barbecues the topic of conversation was the AB football juggernaut. Following a 41-7 pasting of rival Westford, the AB gridders focused on beating Stoneham in Acton-Boxboro's first super bowl appearance at then, Colonial Field. The 23-0 victory sent the crowd of over 8,000 people home with the knowledge that they had witnessed the birth of a dynasty and the culminating victory of perhaps the most dominant team in DCL history. This team should take pride in the fact that although the foundation had been laid by the teams that came before them, this '94 team built the fortress that is now Acton Boxboro football. Congratulations to each and every member of the Acton-Boxboro 1994 Undefeated DCL and Super Bowl champion. There is not a team in the state that would have beaten this team that year.
