1974 Boys Hockey

Undefeated State Champions

Vidi. Vini. Vinci. They came. They saw. They conquered. This talented band of competitors made their dreams come true in 1974 with a 1-0 shutout of a potent Billerica High School Hockey Team on the fabled ice at Boston Garden. Where Shore, Orr and Cheevers trod, that day Higgins, Bradley and Moore got the nod. Capping an undefeated 19-0 season with the state title game, the Bruce Parker coached team outscored their opposition 85-15. "Dinty-Moore, Dinty-Moore" was a familiar cry from the fanatic Colonial faithful who followed this exciting team and their favorite goalie. This team was much like the big bad Bruins of the same era. When you are well coached. When you are disciplined. When you are swashbuckling. When you are talented. And when you are driven. The ingredients make a recipe of uncommon excellence. The many years of hard work in cold rinks in far-away towns in the Northeast paid off for this lovable, hard hitting, rollicking icemen. With the communities of Acton and Boxboro caught up in Colonial hockey fever, AB dominated the Assabet Rink and ice rinks throughout the league both on and off the ice. The Boston Garden and Springfield Civic Center were no exceptions. They now live in Sweden, Germany, Tacoma, Orlando and parts in-between. However distant, in miles they now are, this star studded team is bonded in time with a memory that will never be diminished. Undefeated -State Champions.
